Early in my career working in various mental health roles I witnessed the powerful impact animals can have on mental health. After bringing my rescue greyhound, Ruben, along to a few support sessions, he quickly became a beloved presence in many clients’ recovery journeys. This led me to pursue formal Animal-Assisted Therapy accreditation and eventually open Without Walls Counselling.

What began as walk-and-talk animal-assisted therapy in Sydney’s beautiful parks has recently transitioned to in-clinic counselling. Despite this shift in setting, my approach to therapy remains grounded in the same values. I continue to offer person-centred, trauma-informed counselling with an emphasis on collaboration and fostering self-compassion.

I am committed to ongoing professional development, regularly engaging in training in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), self-compassion, and mood disorders. My experience also includes working with individuals who are neurodiverse, have experienced childhood trauma, and are managing anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.

Therapeutic Approaches:

  • Self-Compassion
  • Collaborative Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy

Ruben

Greyhound & Therapy Dog

Gentle and goofy, Ruben is a delightful addition to the counselling space. Ruben and I completed our Animal Assistance Therapy training with Therapy Dogs NSW in 2022, and are a qualified dog and handler team.

Ruben provides a calm and grounded energy to the counselling environment, and can even bring some comedic relief at times! Despite their speed, greyhounds are wonderfully lazy dogs, loving to lounge about while recieve pats and treats. During a session you can enjoy Ruben’s company on the couch or even sit down next to him while he lays in his bed.
